MELBOURNE, Fla., October 24, 2023 – Modus Operandi, a company that delivers innovative software that harnesses data to empower smarter decisions, was awarded a U.S. Air Force contract to provide key event identification for large force team of teams exercises to assist in course of action analysis and mission outcome prediction to support Combat Air Forces (CAF) planners and decision makers.
Building on Movia®, Modus Operandi’s keystone knowledge management and decision support software, our POMML (Prediction of Outcomes for Missions using Machine Learning) application will achieve at least a 75% reduction in analysis time over current methods while producing recommended courses of action and predictions for mission outcomes. POMML incorporates a graphical representation of data relevant to planned or in-progress missions into a mission ontology which represents large force exercises and conditions. Using reinforcement learning to augment human decision making, POMML can suggest courses of action based on the available data.
Modus Operandi will apply Movia’s built-in machine learning capabilities, specifically descriptive and predictive analytics, as well as its ontology to ingest structured and unstructured data. The initial development of POMML is funded under the U.S. Air Force Small Business Innovation Research program.
“POMML will enable the U.S. Air Force to evaluate post-flight performance of teams and their members and determining root cause analysis for training outcomes, improving future training offerings and enabling mission success,” said Andrew Toth, Modus Operandi president. “We are pleased that our POMML technology will provide commanders and trainers with access to the overall picture of their team’s performance via a new suite of intuitive tools to guide a unit’s improvement. We are honored that the U.S. Air Force has selected Modus Operandi to maintain a higher level of mission readiness.”
