Position: Data Scientist with AI/ML Expertise

Position Overview: Modus Operandi Inc. is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Data Scientist with a strong background in AI/ML development. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record of designing, developing, and implementing advanced AI and machine learning solutions to address complex business challenges. This role requires a deep understanding of machine learning algorithms, data analysis, and software development, as well as a passion for innovation and problem-solving.

Key Responsibilities:

  • AI/ML Solution Development: Collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand business requirements and translate them into AI/ML solutions. Design, develop, and implement machine learning models and algorithms to address specific business needs, including predictive analytics, recommendation systems, and natural language processing.
  • Data Management: Collect, preprocess, and analyze large datasets to extract meaningful insights and features for model training. Build scalable and efficient machine learning pipelines for model training, validation, and deployment.
  • Model Evaluation and Iteration: Evaluate the performance of machine learning models using appropriate metrics and techniques. Iterate on improvements to achieve higher accuracy and efficiency.
  • Innovation and Advancement: Stay current with the latest advancements in AI/ML technologies and tools. Propose innovative solutions to enhance products and services.
  • Integration and Deployment: Collaborate with software engineers to integrate AI/ML models into production systems, ensuring scalability, reliability, and performance.
  • Mentorship: Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior team members. Contribute to knowledge sharing and best practices within the team.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

  • Programming and Data Analysis: Proficiency in programming languages such as Python, Java, or C++. Experience with data manipulation and analysis libraries like NumPy, pandas, and scikit-learn.
  • Big Data Technologies: Hands-on experience with big data technologies such as Hadoop, Spark, or Kafka. Proficiency in SQL and database systems.
  • Problem-Solving and Communication: Excellent problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work independently and as part of a team. Strong communication and interpersonal skills to explain complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
  • Cloud Computing: Experience with cloud computing platforms such as AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud.
  • Educational Background: Bachelor’s degree in engineering, Mathematics, or a related field. Advanced degrees preferred.

Specialized Skills:

  • Proficiency in running large language models (LLM) in local environments for sensitive data and specific domain requirements.
  • Understanding of SPARQL and the ability to autogenerate queries to reduce manual creation.
  • Knowledge of AI/ML applications in geolocation and imagery analysis, including object recognition and entity tracking.
  • Ability to evaluate model performance beyond standard benchmarks to meet specific business needs.
  • Expertise in retrieval-augmented generation (RAG) and generating English queries that translate to internal query languages.
  • Skills in annotating and vetting system decisions, retraining based on user input, and incorporating user feedback into training sets.
  • Experience with visual and textual annotation tools for entity and concept extraction.

Additional Competencies:

  • Ingesting and processing large volumes of documents, tagging keywords/key phrases with domain-specific dictionaries.
  • Integrating with large language models (LLM) to autogenerate draft ontologies.
  • Identifying and generating candidate workflows.
  • Semantic tagging and concept extraction to connect or create new ontological concepts.
